ZAGREB, Oct 29 (Hina) - The Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs,
Transport and Communications incorporated European regulations on
the accelerated exclusion from traffic of single-bottom tankers in
September this year. #L#
This is said in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Minister of
Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications, Roland Zuvanic, in
response to yesterday's statement by Environmental Protection and
Zoning Minister Ivo Banac, who suggested that Zuvanic's ministry
adjust domestic regulations on tanker transport to the latest EU
regulations.
Zuvanic said he was "surprised at... Minister Banac suggesting one
month later that my ministry do so".
The parliament did not manage to discuss the new rules on the
exclusion from traffic of tankers without double bottoms before it
was dissolved.
The ministry will not wait for the new parliament to adopt changes
to the Maritime Code, but will send the government for adoption a
regulation incorporating the EU regulation on the gradual
exclusion from traffic of tankers without double bottoms, Zuvanic
said.
