The prefects said that representatives from Croatian and Italian
Adriatic regions would probably hold a meeting next year in Italy.
Regional cooperation in the protection of the Adriatic was
initiated by Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
The president of the Council of Europe's House of Regions, Giovanni
di Strassi, who attended the meeting, said Croatia's decision to
declare a fishing and ecological zone was good for the protection of
the Adriatic, but was nevertheless a unilateral act as it was not
recognised by regions outside Croatia.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Italian
region Molise.
