urging citizens to go to the polls and decide on the next
government.
He also called on political parties to conduct a fair election
campaign.
The president expressed confidence that citizens would vote for
those who would enable Croatia's development, and provide a safe
future and development prospects for its citizens.
"The Republic of Croatia is developing as a sovereign and
democratic country where basic human rights are guaranteed, and
where respect for the rights of man and citizen is ensured and where
minorities enjoy the same rights as other citizens," Mesic said.
The president added that he was confident the new parliament and
government would honour their commitments to Croatia's development
in the best possible way.
