Between Oct. 11 and 19, about 250 Jewish community members
presented 15 cultural projects aimed at bolstering Jewish unity in
the region, said Vladimir Salamon, chairman of the event's
organising committee and vice president of the Zagreb Jewish
Community.
He added another purpose of the meeting was the exchange of
experience with Jewish communities from other European countries.
This year's guest was the Jewish Cultural Centre from Paris.
Professors Slavko Goldstein and Zarko Puhovski gave lectures to
commemorate 60 years of the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto.
The meeting in Hvar featured films, plays, and concerts. A
selection of the best will be presented in Croatia, Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Serbia-Montenegro, and Macedonia over the next six
months.
It has been announced Hvar will host the next such meeting from
Sept. 23 to Oct. 3, 2004.
