Police operations will no longer consist only of raiding premises
suspected of being people-smuggling locations, Kirsten Haupt told
reporters, announcing new methods of combating human trafficking.
Haupt said Herzegovina-Neretva Canton was a notorious transit
point in this kind of crime.
She added that the majority of people smuggled into Western Europe
from Southeast Europe passed through Bosnia. She called on cantonal
police forces in the Croat-Muslim federation as well as the police
forces of the country's two entities to step up cooperation in view
of stopping this crime.
