"I can say so now because the Hague tribunal sent a note to Gotovina
through me," Pukanic said after being interviewed by the police for
90 minutes. He declined to speak of the content of the note.
Hague tribunal chief prosecutor "Carla Del Ponte can trumpet for
another two years that Gotovina is in Croatia, but if that were so it
would become public in a half hour and police would arrest him at
once," he said.
Pukanic told reporters the police were interested in his trips
abroad, notably to London.
Some media have alleged that as he was hiding in a number of European
Union countries, Gotovina spent some time in Great Britain and then
Ireland.
Asked to comment on allegations that he might be investigated over
harbouring a fugitive, Pukanic said "it will be very bad if that
happens".
"As a journalist I cannot reveal my sources, which in this case is
General Gotovina," he said, adding that he would not reveal the
location of his interview with him "even if I were subjected to
electroshocks".
He said he recently communicated with Gotovina "indirectly".
