For the past few years this form of crime has been steadily growing
throughout Southeast Europe and as such presents a huge problem as
far as human rights are concerned.
A film entitled "Women Slaves in the 21st Century" was screened as
part of the seminar. The film deals with the phenomenon of the
trafficking in human beings in Croatia and a wider region.
The situation in Croatia is still not alarming however, it is
necessary to work on preventative measures, the secretary of the
national committee to combat the trafficking in humans and legal
adviser in the Croatian government Ivana Werft said.
A programme to organise training sessions concerned with combating
the slave has been designed with the aim of organising permanent
training in 13 partner countries in Southeast Europe. Training
sessions are part of an all-round programme being implemented
within the Stability Pact, the secretary of the Croatian State
Prosecutor's Office, Diana Remenaric, said.
The current seminar was organised by the Centre for Expert Training
of Judges and Other Judicial Officers.
