During their stay in Brussels, Croatian officials will hold
political consultations with representatives of the European
Commission and talks with expert on the completion of answers to the
EC Questionnaire, according to sources from the Croatian
diplomatic circles.
The Brussels event is the third preparatory meeting for the
ministerial conference on sustainable development of fisheries in
the Mediterranean area, due to be held in Venice on 25-26 November.
The Venice conference will pool 24 member states (including
Croatia) of the General Fishery Commission for the Mediterranean.
Participants in the Brussels meeting are to draft final documents
of the Venice conference on the objectives of the fishery policy in
the region and models of strengthening of multilateral cooperation
in that sector as well as measures against illegal catch of fish in
the Mediterranean.
It has been announced that the Croatian delegation will expound
Zagreb's plans to extend its jurisdiction in the Adriatic during
talks on the protection of endangered Mediterranean species and
ecological protections at the meeting in Brussels.
