ZAGREB, Sept 19 (Hina) - President Stjepan Mesic and Foreign Minister Tonino Picula travel to New York on Sunday to attend the 58th regular session of the UN General Assembly due to begin next week.

58th regular session of the UN General Assembly due to begin next

On Monday, Mesic is scheduled to meet his Swiss counterpart Pascal
Couchepin and Open Society president George Soros. On Tuesday, he
is due to deliver a speech on the role of the UN in the world, and meet
the presidents of Albania and Peru later in the day.
According to unofficial sources, Picula is supposed to address the
part of the session devoted to AIDS on Monday.
Mesic is expected to return to Zagreb on Wednesday and Picula on
Friday.
The Foreign Ministry said that topics of interest to Croatia
included international cooperation in combating terrorism, reform
of the UN system, peacekeeping operations, human rights,
international criminal courts, implementation of the Millennium
Declaration, sustainable development, disarmament and non-
proliferation of weapons, and human cloning.
