Commenting on the apologies exchanged between Croatia's President
Stjepan Mesic and Serbia-Montenegro's Svetozar Marovic during
Mesic's visit to Belgrade on September 10, State Department
spokesman Adam Ereli said in a statement the presidents' apologies
and concrete action taken to solve open questions, such as refugee
return, the establishment of the border, and the visa regime,
should contribute to normalising bilateral relations and regional
stability.
The United States is looking forward to the settlement of the
remaining post-conflict issues between all former Yugoslav
countries and their integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions,
the statement said.
