Vecernji list daily said on Thursday the SDP had agreed with non-
partisan government ministers Ljubo Jurcic, Gvozden Flego, and
Neven Mimica they would be among the non-partisan candidates on SDP
slates. Also mentioned in this context were a number of experts.
Talking to reporters over the telephone last night, Science
Minister Flego denied that the SDP had talked with him about this.
Racan referred reporters to Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac, saying
he had publicly talked about this. "We at the SDP haven't even begun
to compile slates and information about it is speculation," he said
after last night's SDP Presidency session.
The PM said the SDP had talked only with its ruling coalition
partner Libra, at the latter's initiative, and that the talks were
not over. He described Libra's attempt to list its members on the
SDP non-partisan slate as contradictory.
Racan said the SDP would continue with the practice of giving seats
it was entitled to in the coalition to non-partisan experts.
An unofficial SDP source has said that Jurcic and Flego were
appointed to the government via the SDP quota and that it is
possible they will appear on the SDP's non-partisan quota at the
upcoming polls.
