Leaders of trade unions which are SSSH members on Monday convened to
discuss the situation in the Federation. After their session in
Zagreb they issued a press release saying that "intensive talks on
the further functioning of the SSSH are being held".
"With regard to the Textile Workers' Union's demand for Juric's
resignation, and taking into consideration the latest developments
and Juric's deteriorated health, the Presidency's members will try
to reach the best solution possible," the press release said.
In addition to the said union, another eight unions also insist on
Juric's resignation, holding him responsible for a poor financial
situation in the SSSH and accusing him of being too soft during
negations with the government on amendments to the Labour Act.
Juric was taken to hospital last week because of heart problems.
