Slobodan Beros of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was relieved of
his duties as mayor in line with a 2001 agreement among the
coalition parties in the city.
The agreement envisaged change of the mayor in the middle of his
term of office.
Last month, Beros was appointed new Croatian consul to New York.
