"The decision about sending soldiers abroad should be passed by
parliament, but we still have not taken a stand on that matter,"
Mesic said after a meeting with Polish Premier Leszek Miller.
Croatia is ready to participate in all UN-led international
missions, Mesic said, but he did not say if Croatian soldiers could
join the existing international forces in Iraq which do not have a
UN mandate.
Apart from the stabilisation of Iraq, Croatia is interested in the
country's post-war reconstruction, Mesic said.
"We are ready to take part in rebuilding Iraq and to collect,
through some contracts, a debt of 200 million dollars, which Iraq
owes Croatia," Mesic said.
