Croatian Bloc said in a press release on Friday. #L#
The HB cited a report by the AFP news agency as saying that 60
Rwandan non-governmental organisations had issued a joint appeal
for the dismissal of Del Ponte for not being sufficiently active in
bringing to justice persons who had organised genocide in Rwanda.
The party urged the Croatian government to follow suit.
"If they have not mustered enough strength to amend the
constitutional law, as some European countries have, and move the
issue of cooperation with the Hague-based tribunal from the
political sphere into the area of the judiciary, Croatian
authorities must follow the African example," the press release
read.
The HB believes that Croatia has stronger reasons than Rwanda for a
political battle and legal disputes with the Hague-based UN
tribunal.
The HB criticised the strongest opposition party - the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) -- over a recent statement of the HDZ leader
Ivo Sanader in which he supported unconditional cooperation with
the tribunal.
