Speaking to reporters after the talks, Mesic said he found
particularly important that political and security issues between
the two countries were being addressed through dialogue. He cited
the Protocol on Prevlaka, praising the way in which it was being
implemented.
Croatia and Montenegro want their border to be the most open in
Europe, Mesic said.
Vujanovic said that in dealing with the Prevlaka issue, Croatia and
Montenegro had proved to the European Union and the international
community they were both able to find viable solutions to problems
through negotiation.
Mesic said that Croatia and Montenegro were cooperating within many
regional initiatives.
"Croatia's application for European Union membership shows that
good neighbourly and regional cooperation is a constituent part of
European processes," Mesic said.
