The law will abolish monopoly in railway transport because it
allows more carriers, as is the case in European Union countries,
while the infrastructure will remain state-controlled.
Parliament also adopted a package of health laws.
MPs unanimously adopted a law ratifying a Hague agreement on
industrial designs which should eliminate disturbances on the
Croatian market, where it was not possible to protect industrial
designs until now.
Parliament also passed a law which ratifies an agreement between
the Croatian government and the European Patent Organisation on
cooperation in the area of patents. The document should attract new
technologies and investments.
Parliament today wrapped the 34th extraordinary session but
convenes for another one on Friday, the main topic of which is the
privatisation of the INA oil company.
The agenda also includes the appointment of a new minister for
environmental protection. The candidate is Liberal Party president
Ivo Banac.
Tomorrow parliament should end the spring-summer sitting.
