The ward covers an area of 700 square metres and is intended for more
demanding heart interventions.
This is the first time a hospital in Croatia has in one place a
laboratory for intensive cardiology, a coronary and post-coronary
unit and a ward for intensive cardiology with the most modern
equipment.
The coronary unit includes a centre for telemedicine, which will
enable a direct link between cardiologists from the hospital and
doctors in community health centres.
The ward, which cost 10 million kuna, was opened in the presence of
Prime Minister Ivica Racan, Health Minister Andro Vlahusic,
Science and Technology Minister Gvozden Flego and representatives
of Zagreb University, faculties and other institutions.
