ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - A Croatian emigrant and famous American

clearing Pakrac of mines, an advisor at the Croatian foreign
ministry, Dijana Plesina, reported Monday. #L#
Plesina estimates that the dinner, held under the auspices of PM
Ivica Racan, will be attended by several hundred guests, including
ambassadors accredited in Croatia and state officials. They are
also expected to participate in a humanitarian auction of ceramics
which will be organised by a Croatian potter, Hanibal Salvaro.
Around one million mines were left over from the war in Croatia. It
is believed the country will be freed of them around 2010, Plesina
said. So far, EUR133 million has been invested in mine clearing in
the country, but EUR9 billion will be needed to remove all the
mines.
