ZAGREB, June 21 (Hina) - The Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) did not
send an envoy to the Croatian Democratic Union's (HDZ) Eighth
General Assembly because of recent insulting statements by an HDZ
MP, HSS president Zlatko Tomcic said on Saturday. #L#
"Last week an HDZ MP rudely attacked the HSS... and I decided that
unless the HDZ publicly apologised, because we were publicly
attacked, nobody should attend their Assembly," Tomcic told the
press at Zagreb's Pleso airport upon returning from Australia.
During a parliamentary debate, HDZ's Branimir Glavas quoted an
Osijek-Baranja County councillor from the HSS who joined the HDZ
ranks because he did not want to be in an "agri-Mafia party".
The HSS, however, no longer expects an apology. "There's no need for
it because their MP has shown his true colours and we did what we
thought was appropriate," said Tomcic.
