In response to a question by Istrian Democratic Assembly's (IDS)
Damir Kajin, Linic said the shipyard's losses were primarily the
consequence of an irresponsible business policy of the current
owners, who ventured into building another shipyard which does not
function today. That was a completely unjustified investment, he
stressed.
Linic said that in the past half year the government had been
continuously negotiating with Lenac's owners and was trying to
protect Croatian companies from the irresponsible conduct of
owners and employers.
"The Croatian budget will no longer cover the losses which Lenac's
owners incurred by investing into something which does not function
today," Linic warned.
The government is negotiating with current and potential new owners
for the shipyard, he said.
Linic labelled as untrue Social Liberals' (HSLS) Marko Baricevic's
claims that he was consistent in developing the economy of his own,
narrower Rijeka region and in destroying everything in the Slavonia
region.
"As a representative of the executive authorities, I try to do my
job responsibly and have the courage to make decisions, although I
may be ridiculed and insulted in parliament," Linic said.
