The government is preparing a decision on the visa regime for
citizens of Serbia and Montenegro. Should it fail to make a decision
on Wednesday, it could do so at its next regular session, unofficial
sources report.
Prime Minister Ivica Racan told a radio station Saturday that visas
for citizens of the said country could be abolished through the
summer. According to unofficial sources, another possibility is to
issue a permit for entrance into Croatia at the border, without
thorough controls and procedures.
It is very certain, however, that such a liberalisation of the visa
regime will be temporary and valid only for a certain test-period,
and that Croatia could make such a move under certain conditions,
i.e. the withdrawal of the Serbian army from the border along the
Danube River.
