Jelincic said Wednesday that he would organise an "international
conference on the succession of the Adriatic Sea and the borders of
the former SFRY" in Belgrade on September 20. #L#
In an interview with Belgrade's "Glas javnosti" daily, Jelincic
elaborated his request that "the Adriatic coast and islands be
divided among all SFRY successors".
He claims that this was in the realm of "obligations which include
the issue of joint gold, money and real-estate of the former
federation. At the conference, local legal experts will explain
that when a coastal country disintegrates, all newly-created
states have the right to the coast, he says.
Jelincic reiterated his claims that "in the past two centuries,
Croatia never (legally) owned the Adriatic coast", and that after
WWII, Italy had been forced to cede Istria, Zadar and islands to
Yugoslavia, not Croatia, to compensate for war damage.
