Committee chairwoman Vesna Skare Ozbolt said the DC would form a
post-election coalition with parties with similar political
programmes.
Party president Mate Granic said the DC supported the independent
participation in elections of the Croatian Democratic Union,
Croatian Social-Liberal Party and the Croatian Party of Rights,
with which it had agreed that "the incumbent incompetent and
indecisive authorities should be replaced".
Speaking about the party's main objections to the ruling
coalition's work, Granic singled out the privatisation of the
Suncani Hvar hotel company, the Croatian-Slovene nuclear power
plant Krsko, Piran Bay, wiretapping affairs, unemployment and "a
dangerous increase" of the country's debt.
The DC will urge a parliamentary debate on Croatia's foreign debt
and the adoption of a law on the conflict of interest so that state
guarantees are not given to private companies because of
friendships and family links, he said.
The party also objects to the government's still not having set the
date of parliamentary elections.
The DC strongly advocates Croatia's European path and is not
willing to enter a coalition which would jeopardise its pro-
European orientation, Granic concluded.
The party discussed possible coalitions on the state level at the
closed part of the session.
