ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Tuesday received a delegation of the advisory body of national minorities (Savjet za nacionalne manjine) that informed him about coming elections for councils of ethnic
minorities, the President's Office reported.

The representatives said they had received assurances from the
government that subsequent elections would take place in areas
where the ballot could not be held on 18 May because of the lack of
time for preparations.
The advisory body will monitor the regularity of the elections.
The talks also focused on the rights of national minorities in the
context of the new constitutional law on this subject. The two sides
underlined their firm intention to have the law implemented.
The national minorities representatives said that the advisory
body represented all national minorities in Croatia.
The body's head, Aleksandar Tolnauer, was accompanied to the talks
by vice-president of the body, Sinisa Tatalovic. Present was also
Milena Klajner from the Office for National Minorities.
