"We have orientation -- European associations and standards -- and
everything depends on the realisation of these goals," Mesic said.
"May 1 is a holiday of working people, and the majority of people in
Croatia are working people," Racan said.
He added that in three years of its mandate, the government enabled
a higher growth rate and that citizens would feel the results of
better standards within a year or two. The prime minister said that
negotiations with social partners on amendments to the Labour Act
were successful. He said that technical details from the law would
be finished next week, after which the government would forward to
parliament about ten bills from the labour-social legislation
package.
Also present were Labour and Welfare Minister Davorko Vidovic,
Economy Minister Ljubo Juricic and Justice Minister Ingrid
Anticevic Marinovic.
