THE UNITED NATIONS, April 23 (Hina) - The UN Assistant Secretary General, Hedi Annabi, on Wednesday called on the UN Security Council to dismiss requests to end the UN interim administration in Kosovo (UNMIK), stressing that the
mission encouraged dialogue and multi-ethnicity in Kosovo.
THE UNITED NATIONS, April 23 (Hina) - The UN Assistant Secretary
General, Hedi Annabi, on Wednesday called on the UN Security
Council to dismiss requests to end the UN interim administration in
Kosovo (UNMIK), stressing that the mission encouraged dialogue and
multi-ethnicity in Kosovo. #L#
Annabi presented to the Security Council the latest report by UN
Secretary General Kofi Annan on the transfer of authority to
Kosovo's interim self-government institutions.
The UN assistant secretary general said the Kosovo parliament was
not capable of overcoming political and ethnic differences.
According to him, ethnic violence and crime were once again
spreading in Kosovo.
Annabi requested of the Security Council to support the UN Mission
in Kosovo, stressing that the mission was facing pressure from all
sides.
