Quoting diplomatic and other sources close to the Hague-based
tribunal, the Croatian daily says that the competent chamber on
Monday considered the method in which the ICTY's indictment against
the retired general had been served on and that it accepted the
service as correct in the processing sense.
The panel of judges, according to the Croatian paper, maintains
that the indictment was served on, and it annulled the order for
Bobetko's arrest and extradition.
On 19 March Judge Carmel Agius issued an order asking Zagreb to
serve the indictment either on Bobetko or on his lawyers and that,
in turn, the above-mentioned orders for his apprehension and
extradition would be suspended.
The Croatian government sent the indictment to Bobetko's lawyer,
Bosiljko Misetic.
A war-time commander of the Croatian army, Gen. Bobetko, is
regarded by the ICTY prosecution as responsible for was crimes
perpetrated during the 1993 operation in the Medak Pocket.
