Powell, arrived in Belgrade from Ankara on Wednesday afternoon and
immediately met with the president of Serbia and Montenegro
Svetozar Marovic and Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic. #L#
After that Powell will meet Serbian Premier Zoran Zivkovic and his
associates.
The U.S. Secretary of State will later travel to Brussels, but he
decided to go to Belgrade to pay tribute to recently assassinated
Premier Zoran Djindjic and offer the government his support for the
continuation of reforms.
Belgrade media announced that Powell will speak about co-operation
with the Hague-based war crimes tribunal and the possible lifting
of a freeze on financial support.
