Jovanovic was an assistant commander of the Unit for Special
Operations, aka the Red Berets. According to Zivkovic, the suspect
was arrested yesterday. Also arrested was Sasa Pejakovic aka Pele,
born in Subotica in 1971, also a member of the Red Berets. There is
founded suspicion that he participated directly in the
assassination along with the so-called Zemun Clan, a very powerful
criminal gang.
Police have also found a sniper gun Heckler & Koh G-3 buried at a
location in Belgrade. Police believe that this is the murder
weapon.
The Commander of the Unit for Special Operations, Dusan Maricic aka
Gumar, was relieved from his duty due to connections with the Zemun
Clan. He has been detained for further investigation.
New premier Zivkovic thanked the citizens, particularly the army of
Serbia and Montenegro for their help.
