The diplomat added that negotiations were under way on possible
deployment of Macedonian soldiers in Iraq, particularly in the wake
of the potential conflict.
Butler said Macedonian liaison officers had arrived in Florida to
discuss the matter with American military officials.
The Macedonian government has not yet made public its official
stand on the Iraqi crisis, and only media are reporting on the
Macedonian support to Washigton.
Since the start of the Iraqi crisis, Macedonian President Boris
Traikovski has advocated that his country should give support to
the coalition and takes sides with the United States, adding that at
the same time agreement on American economic, military and other
assistance should be reached in return.
