In 2003 Bosnia is to embark on the path towards Europe, the path
which Hungary, Poland and other eastern European countries have
passed, Paddy Ashdown wrote in the message to citizens of Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
The first part of reforms in privatisation is full of challenges and
difficulties, he added.
He urged the acceleration of the tempo of changes. In this context
the British diplomat pointed to the necessity of the adoption of
adequate laws.
The possibility of economic disaster should be changed with
prospects of the economic viability and progress, said Ashdown who
took over the office of the High Representatives last year.
Bosnia does not lack in resources, trained staff, professionals,
entrepreneurship or willingness to work hard, Ashdown said adding
that politicians must act quickly to remove obstacles on the road to
progress, help create more jobs and open Bosnia for foreign
investment.
