"We expect the EU to make a clear decision on Friday to start negotiations with Croatia, for example in March next year, without setting any conditions," Sanader said in Velika Gorica outside Zagreb on Monday, on the occasion of the town's day.
Croatia meets the Copenhagen criteria and all other criteria and although this is sometimes hard, we are aware that we should do it for our own sake, Sanader said.
"In that sense, a clear decision on Friday has no alternative. Croatia rightfully expects a clear and precise decision without any conditions."
Sanader stated that Croatia was joining the family of mature European countries so that its citizens could live better and decide about Europe's future together with other member-countries.
"We can no longer allow others to make decisions about us without us," the PM stressed.
Despite the war that it went through, Croatia has the strength to solve all problems and settle outstanding issues with its neighbours, Sanader concluded.
