The lantern was welcomed by numerous believers, young people and several hundred firemen and scouts, the latter having organised the event. Parliament speaker Vladimir Seks and the Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Family Affairs, War Veterans and Inter-generational Solidarity, Jadranka Kosor, attended the event on behalf of the parliament, which is the sponsor of the event.
Auxiliary Zagreb bishop Vlado Kosic conducted a Eucharist service on this occasion.
In his sermon, the bishop called on the authorities to support the church's insistence that Sunday be a non-working day and to appropriately pay those who have to work on Sundays due to the nature of their profession.
