He said the fact that the assembly was held in Dubrovnik was a tribute to Croatia, which he added he admired also because of its sporting successes. He said it was incredible that such a small country could win as many as five medals at the Athens Olympics.
The four cities bidding to host the 2012 Olympics -- Paris, London, New York, Moscow -- were promoted at the assembly by the first three's mayors and Moscow's deputy mayor.
Croatian Olympic Committee chairman (HOO) Zlatko Matesa said he was honoured by all the renowned figures who attended. He recalled that Croatian President Stjepan Mesic addressed the assembly yesterday, and that Prime Minister Ivo Sanader received the president of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge.
EOC leaders commended the HOO for the excellent organisation of the assembly.
