A vice-president of the national Federation of Anti-fascist Fighters and Anti-fascists, Vinko Sunjara, thanked the government and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader for their efforts to promote the anti-fascist foundations of the Croatian state. He added that participants in the World War II People's Liberation Struggle, which he said was just and had no alternative, expected the government to equate their rights with those of Homeland War soldiers, and to provide the same funding for associations of anti-fascist fighters and Homeland War veterans' associations.
Knin was liberated from fascism on 4 December 1944 and the battle for Knin was the last and biggest battle in the liberation of Dalmatia, Sunjara said.
Today's event in Knin was attended by representatives of anti-fascist organisations from Dalmatia, county and municipal officials, and representatives of political parties.
