ZAGREB, Dec 1 (Hina) - Kenya supports Croatia's candidacy for
membership of the UN Security Council in 2008 and 2009, the Croatian Foreign
Ministry said on Wednesday in a statement on a meeting between Kenyan Foreign
Minister Ali Mwakwere and Croatian Assistant Foreign Minister Drazen Margeta in
Nairobi.Margeta, who was taking part in the international conference called
"Mine-Free World" in the Kenyan capital, and Minister Mwakwere also signed a
declaration on 1 December 2004 establishing official diplomatic relations
between the two countries.
The Nairobi Summit on a Mine-Free World is the name given to the First
Review Conference of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling,
Production and Transfer of Antipersonnel Mines and on Their Destruction (also
known as the Ottawa Convention).
