It is a non-final ruling and although I do not comment on rulings pending appeal, this one includes political allegations and issues, Bebic said on Sunday after a commemoration to the WW II Jasenovac concentration camp.
Asked by reporters whether the lengthy sentences delivered against Generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac would affect the forthcoming parliamentary elections and a referendum on Croatia's prospective entry into the European Union, Bebic said that he hoped that the currently emotionally-charged situation would stabilise.
"There are six to seven months before the elections," he said adding that he hoped that the situation would stabilise by then and that a final ruling was a precondition for the defusing of the situation.
According to some opinion polls, the latest developments have led to the melting of a pro-EU sentiment in Croatia.
