ZAGREB, Nov 29 (Hina) - Opposition deputies on Monday failed to
appear at sessions of parliamentary committees, claiming that the reason for
nonattendance was not a boycott but a spontaneous reaction prompted by their
dissatisfaction with last week's behaviour of the ruling Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ) regarding the opposition's request to relieve Foreign Minister
Miomir Zuzul of duty."This is a spontaneous decision and it is the result of the opposition's
dissatisfaction with the HDZ having fixed the quorum last Friday," Social
Democratic Party (SDP) leader Ivica Racan said.
He said that the opposition would present the HDZ with minimum requests
which had to be met for the opposition to continue its parliamentary work at a
session of the parliamentary presidency this afternoon.
Racan would not specify the requests, stating only that he would address
reporters on the matter after the session.
Opposition deputies today attended only a session of the Committee on
Home Affairs and National Security.
The parliament will continue its 11th session on Tuesday.
