HUS representatives told the press on Friday the company's management obstructed union activities by refusing to talk about a collective agreement and not letting the HUS county secretary enter the company's premises.
HUS president Zdenko Mucnjak said this kind of behaviour was "one of the worst forms of noncompliance with domestic legislation and International Labour Organisation conventions".
Mucnjak said trade union freedoms were fundamental human freedoms and that if the state failed to react it would mean that it violated human freedoms, which he added was not a good occurrence in Croatia's European Union integration process.
He said Croatian authorities allowed foreign multinational companies to act like that by failing to sanction them. He urged granting competent inspection teams more powers.
