KARLOVAC, Nov 25 (Hina) - Party of Rights (HSP) presidential
candidate Slaven Letica has said that as the winner in the 1990s war, Croatia
should raise the issue of reparation because "lasting peace and good
neighbourly relations cannot be achieved through oblivion, but only in the way
they were achieved among those who lost and won the Second World War".Addressing a meeting with HSP local leaders in Karlovac County on
Wednesday, Letica said compensation for war damage and the possible reparation
were higher than Croatia's external debt.
Letica said that if he was elected Croatia's new president, he would use
all of his constitutional powers and not only 40 percent, which he added
incumbent President Stjepan Mesic was doing. He said this meant seeing to it
that different levels of state authority acted in harmony and fighting against
the centralisation of Croatia.
