"The police are intensely searching for the perpetrator, and only after we find him and talk to him will we be able to say whether the van was burned in response to the behaviour of the Belgrade students," police spokeswoman Gordana Vulama told Hina.
She was referring to two architecture students from Belgrade who were arrested and sentenced to up to 15 days in prison pending appeal for taking pictures of themselves while holding a photograph of notorious WW2 Serbian Chetnik Movement leader Draza Mihailovic in Zagreb's central Ban Jelacic Square on Saturday.
The Ford van, bearing Belgrade registration plates, was completely consumed by the fire. There were no casualties, and the damage was estimated at 60,000 kuna, or 8,000 euros. Swimmers from the Partizan swimming club travelled in the van to take part in an international competition in Zagreb.
