The government today released conclusions from its session held on October 28, at which it discussed the final report of the commission in charge of investigating the events in Srebrenica, which describes events in the eastern Bosnian town in the said period.
It was officially stated in Banja Luka that the report included a conclusion saying that the government of Republika Srpska "sympathises with the relatives of Srebrenica victims, with sincere regret and apology for the tragedy that befell them".
The Bosnian Serb government is committed to and is taking decisive steps to bring to justice all persons responsible for war crimes and believes that crimes must not remain unpunished.
Competent Bosnian Serb authorities will continue with activities aimed at collecting evidence to help establish the full truth about the fate of the missing, the conclusions read. The government also requested that exhumations and identifications be carried out as soon as possible as a precondition for completing the process.
"The report undoubtedly shows that mass-scale crimes were committed in the area of Srebrenica in July 1995 through grave violations of international humanitarian law," the government said in the conclusions which accompany the final report of the commission on Srebrenica.
The Bosnian Serb government is confident that the commission's work and results will contribute to establishing a climate of trust in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the region, the conclusions read.
The final report of the commission on Srebrenica was discussed on October 28, after which it was forwarded to the Commission for Human Rights of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina, which adopted it.
"The report is a good basis for action by competent bodies (especially police and judicial bodies at all levels of authority) to further investigate, document and prosecute war crimes," it is stated in the government conclusions.
