The Karlovac Police Department said that the burglary had occurred at an undetermined time between November 5 and 8, and estimated the damage at 2,000 kuna.
The head of the HSS Karlovac branch, Davorin Belavic, said he believed that it was "an ordinary burglary", but added that he could not rule out political motives as this was the third computer to have been stolen from HSS offices in the country.
Belavic recalled that a laptop had been stolen from HSS headquarters in Zagreb and a desktop computer from the party's Zagreb County branch office.
Belavic said that the computer in the Karlovac office contained book-keeping information and information from previous elections, and expressed his doubt that this could be interesting to anyone. He said that no other items had been stolen from the office.
