Dalibor Burazovic's body was handed to Croatian drivers in Mosul. They transferred it to Zakho, a town in northern Iraq, from where it will be transferred to Turkey. There it will be handed to Croatian diplomats and an undertaker from Osijek, who will bring it to Croatia across Bulgaria and Serbia, read the press release.
Burazovic was killed about 10 days ago when rebels attacked a truck convoy near Mosul, in the vicinity of the Iraqi-Turkish border.
His remains were supposed to be handed over on Wednesday, but there were several delays due to administrative reasons.
The Foreign Ministry received confirmation that the body was handed over by the U.S. side. Zagreb sent diplomatic notes to the foreign ministries of Bulgaria and Serbia and Montenegro, requesting undisturbed passage.
