The company's regional office IDC Adriatics told Hina that this was mainly due to a growing share of information-technology spending in Croatia's Gross Domestic Product, the increasing number of computers in Croatian households and a rise in IT services and software in relation to GDP.
Last year Croatia was ranked 35th. This year it finished ahead of Romania and Bulgaria, but behind the Czech Republic and Hungary. Slovenia remained in 26th position, which it also held last year.
For the first time in four years, Sweden has been displaced from the number 1 position by Denmark.
The IDC Information Society Index consists of 15 variables divided into four categories, including computers, Internet, telecommunications and society.
