RIJEKA, Nov 4 (Hina) - Five Croatian citizens and a citizen of Serbiaand Montenegro living in Croatia were placed in the custody of theCounty Court in the northern Adriatic city of Rijeka on Thursday onsuspicion of involvement in
human trafficking, local police said in astatement.

and Montenegro living in Croatia were placed in the custody of the County
Court in the northern Adriatic city of Rijeka on Thursday on suspicion of
involvement in human trafficking, local police said in a statement.The Rijeka Police Department said that the suspects, aged from 23 to 40,
were arrested on Wednesday following months of investigation. They allegedly
operated in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia-Montenegro, and
Italy, smuggling people from Eastern to Western Europe across Croatia.
Charges were also pressed against an additional 16 persons.
The statement said that each illegal migrant had to pay 1,000 euros, and
that 150 people had been smuggled across the border over the last year.
The police said the investigation was continuing.
