LS vice president Zlatko Kramaric said the report did not say under which terms the unification would occur.
The delegates reproached Banac for having led the party autocratically. He responded that he was unable to keep his pledge to keep the party united because of obstacles coming from the leadership, and added that many untruths were said during today's debate on his report.
He once again urged uniting with the HNS and Libra as quickly as possible, saying that otherwise the LS would become marginalised.
Banac's opponent for the post of LS president, Osijek Deputy Mayor Zlatko Benasic, said he too was in favour of the unification but on equal principles and provided that the new party be given a new name, new symbols, and colours with liberal attributes.
Benasic added that the poor rating of the LS was no reason to come under the wing of another party.
