The event was organised by the Association of the Croatian Homeland War Volunteers and Veterans which is a member of the WVF.
The WVF has some 27 million members, veterans of modern wars, from 84 countries.
The symposium in Zagreb pooled some 100 guests, members of the WVF, who will discuss issues such as international cooperation in the social and health protection of veterans, the UN's so called Blue Berets, women in wars and European prospects and standpoints about cooperation over the next ten years.
The present were addressed by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and the Minister of Family, War Veterans' Affairs and Inter-Generational Solidarity, Jadranka Kosor.
Addressing the present veterans, Kosor aid that a bill on the rights of Croatian Homeland War soldiers and members of their families had been sent into parliamentary procedure recently. She added that the provisions of the said bill were in line with instructions and recommendations of the WVF
At the opening Mesic said that solidarity in the world was important today. We live in the time in which not the entire world enjoys peace, even though it is possible to establish peace, Mesic said and added that veterans knew that the best.
