Rumsfeld met Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski and Prime Minister Hari Kostov, and signed with Defence Minister Vlado Buckovski a treaty on the prevention of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and a treaty on military cooperation between the United States and Macedonian governments.
Among other things, Rumsfeld thanked Macedonia for its help in the global war on terror.
Asked about the future of Kosovo, he said ten years ago the entire region was in chaos but that progress was made and the general situation was satisfactory.
